It is such a pretty stone and comes in a rainbow of colours. Mostly found in pinks, browns and greens but they are also rarer blues and blacks.
The name Tourmaline comes from an ancient Sinhalese word ‘Turmali’ meaning ‘a mixed colour precious stone’ or ‘Turamali’ meaning ‘something small from the earth’.
Prized also for its healing and protective powers this stone is believed to promote inspiration, compassion, tolerance, and happiness. It can reduce fear and build self-confidence.
One of Tourmaline’s most distinguishing properties is its ability to become electrically charged simply by heating it. When charged it can attract, or repel, particles of dust or bits of paper.
