Caring for your Jewellery

Fine silver is 99.9% silver and our silver is usually between 96- 99%. Sterling silver in comparison is 92.5% silver and 7.5% copper and other mixed metals. The purity of fine silver means it will tarnish (oxidise) less quickly than sterling silver and if you are sensitive to metals, Luna Tree jewellery, with its purity will not irritate sensitive skins.

Our jewellery is always nickel free.

All items over 7.78 grams are purity tested and hallmarked at the Birmingham Assay Office.

Luna Tree silver loves to be worn and wearing your pieces will keep them shining. When not being worn we recommend storing your jewellery in air tight containers away from sunlight in a cool dry place. Avoid contact with harsh chemicals such as hairspray, perfume and deodorant. Do not wear your jewellery when gardening, doing DIY, or bathing. Swimming pool chemicals will bring unwanted changes to the appearance of silver.

Clean your jewellery with a silver cleaning cloth when required. These are available from all high street jewellers and online merchants.

Luna Tree recommends the Talk Town silver cloth.

Deep Cleaning

For a deeper clean, to remove bacteria, submerge your silver jewellery in warm water with a little washing up liquid. This is all that is required as a cleaning solution. Soak your silver for about 30 minutes in the solution and use a soft toothbrush to gently clean. Rinse in fresh clean water and pat dry before buffing with a silver cloth. Gemstone jewellery can be safely cleaned this way too.

We are a plastic free business and refuse to use plastic in our supply chain. All jewellery is packaged in bio film created from plant starch. They are EN13432 compostable PLA bags which are fully biodegradable. All our other packaging material is paper/cardboard which is widely recyclable.

Our orders are normally dispatched on the next working day. Busier periods can take up to 3 working days.

Returns: Please contact hello@lunatree.co.uk within 14 days of receipt. Returns are paid for by the customer.

To keep shipping as affordable as possible, we use Royal Mail for International shipments.

Built on deep rooted ethics of trade justice and environmental sustainability, we work directly with a community of Hill Tribe silversmiths in Thailand. Here we work in a collaborative way on the jewellery designs, while the village silversmiths run as a cooperative.

The jewellery is all recycled fine silver, produced with traditional silversmithing techniques and hand tools. This hands on approach gives the pieces a uniqueness all their own and an organic feel.

Luna Tree has been a continuous member of BAFTS The Fair Trade Network UK since 2009 and we are also a (Silver Status) Surfers Against Sewage Plastic Free Champion.
